One of the highest viewpoints of the old Lisbon

The bell tower of the Church of Santa Cruz do Castelo, one of the highest viewpoints in the old Lisbon, was rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake and offers one of the best views over the capital and the Tagus River. But, for several years, this space was closed and forgotten, having suffered an accelerated process of degradation, both in terms of its building and its artistic contents. As a result of the initiative of Father Edgar Clara and Signinum, the cultural heritage management company responsible for the project at the time - the tourist activity is currently managed by Wonderful Day, a company in the DASigninum group - on 7th June 2018 the doors of the Castelo Church Tower viewpoint were once again opened, from where you can reach mythical places such as São Vicente de Fora, Alfama, the Graça Church and its terrace, Senhora do Monte and the Vasco da Gama bridge. The entrance is through the old mortuary chapel, where you'll find the ticket office and a shop selling souvenirs and convent sweets. With your visit, you are contributing to the safeguarding and valorisation of this heritage.
